Methodology

Published together with our partner Great Place to Work, the 100 Best Workplaces for Women rankings are based entirely upon feedback from more than 137,762 women at Great Place to Work–Certified companies.

Women completed our anonymous Trust Index© survey, answering questions about how frequently they experience the behaviors that create a great workplace, including, for example, their assessment of how fairly they're treated regardless of gender, the quality and authenticity of communications with managers, and equitable pay and promotion practices.

Results from the survey are highly reliable, having a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of 6% or less. Winning a spot on this list indicates the company has distinguished itself from peers by being a great place to work for women, and has a workplace where women have high representation in the total employee population and in management positions. The 100 companies with the highest employee ratings and female representation were selected for the list.

Employees say:

“Issues that are brought up to management are addressed quickly and fairly. When things are busy, there is no hesitation from the core management team (haven’t seen new managers in action) to jump on the registers right next to even the newest trainee. They are not too big or too important to do the work. Problems/issues with employees who don’t pull the weight are handled promptly and fairly. There is little favoritism where higher sales volume employees get away with bad behavior.”

“I appreciate that we are a value-based company. Employees are expected to be honest and respectful, and we’re held accountable. It’s not that we have to be perfect, but we need to take ownership and live the values the company is founded on.”
