Methodology

In an increasingly global and multicultural world, diversity in business has never been more important. But not every company gets it right. To compile this list of the ones that do, Fortune partner Great Place to Work parsed survey responses from 448,456 employees on questions of workplace fairness, morale, and inclusion. The result is a list of companies with rave reviews from their minority, LGBT, and female staff. Plus, this year we added new lists of the top 10 U.S. workplaces for African-­Americans, Asian-Americans, and Latinos.

The nonprofit health care system won accolades from minority employees for its “strong stance against unfair practices” and support for women and LGBT groups. Diversity education starts at orientation and then keeps going with training and multicultural celebrations. Says one biracial staffer: “They believe in equality for all employees—and patients.”
