Soft drinks are getting the dollar-menu treatment at McDonald’s.
Starting in April, the fast-food giant will offer $1 sodas of any size, Bloomberg reports. The decision comes as McDonald’s, which leads the $228 billion fast-food industry, is facing a slump. Revenue gains are slated to slow to 1.5% this year and 1.6% in 2018 — following a 2.4% increase last year, according to Bloomberg. The sales drop is due in part to cheaper grocery prices, which have encouraged more Americans to eat at home instead of dining out.
Aside from the slash in soda prices, McDonald’s (mcd) will also offer discounted McCafe drinks. Those beverages, which normally range from $2.69 and $4, will be discounted to $2 for a limited time, according to Bloomberg.
Though the drink promotion comes as a way for the company to lure customers back into its restaurants, this isn’t its first attempt. Ever since CEO Steve Easterbrook started at McDonald’s nearly two years ago, it has overhauled its menu and marketing. In the last two years, McDonald’s introduced the all-day breakfast and rolled out two-for-$2 and two-for-$5 deals after it got rid of its beloved Dollar Menu.
