Muslim-Americans took to Twitter on election night to express their dismay at the election of Donald Trump, a man who has repeatedly said he would ban Muslims from the U.S. if elected president.

Despite sharing feelings of fear, many people encouraged defiance in the face of hate and bigotry.

“All joking aside. We can’t be afraid. We have to be defiant in the face of bigotry and injustice,” writer Imraan Siddiqi tweeted.
