Watch ‘Star Wars’ Droid Deliver MIT Acceptance Letters

Mar 14, 2016

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's admissions office has gone all out once again to promote its annual Pi Day ritual.

MIT famously sends out acceptance letters to its next class of undergraduates on March 14, a.k.a. Pi Day, and it has commemorated that event over the last few years with fanciful videos.

Last year, it was drone delivery. This year, it's all about droids—or rather a very particular droid.

In the latest video, MIT uses a droid that looks an awful lot like BB-8 (pronounced "beebee-ate"), the droid co-star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in this high-production quality extravaganza. The soundtrack also sounds vaguely familiar.
