3i Group has agreed to acquire GIF, a German transmission testing company. 3i will invest €77 million, while GIF co-founder will invest €23 million for a minority stake.

Apollo Global Management has acquired EVO Banco from Nova Galicia, a nationalized Spanish lender, for €60 million. Other bidders had included a consortium made up of Centerbridge Capital Partners and Anacap.

Ares Management
 and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board confirmed that they have agreed to acquire upscale retailer Neiman Marcus Group for $6 billion, from a shareholder group led by TPG Capital and Warburg Pincus. Neiman Marcus had been taken private in 2005 for $5.1

Deutsche Telekom has put four private equity firms through to the next round of bidding for a 30% stake in its Scout24 digital classifieds business, according to Bloomberg. The firms are Apax PartnersHellman & FriedmanSilver Lake and TPG Capital. The deal could be valued at upwards of €2 billion.

Fort Point Capital has acquired Engineering Planning and Management Inc., a Framingham, Mass.-based provider of engineering consulting, probabilistic risk assessment, fire protection services and software to the nuclear power industry. Hoffmaster Group Inc., a paper converting business owned by Metalmark Capital, has acquiredGraphic Management Specialty Products Inc., an Oconto, Wisc.-based provider of tabletop products to the healthcare and food service markets. No financial terms were disclosed. The Peakstone Group advised GMSP on the transaction.

Oaktree Capital Management has agreed to acquire Furniture Brands International Inc., a St. Louis-based furniture maker, for $166 million via a prepackaged bankruptcy.

Providence Equity Partners has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Learfield Communications, a Jefferson City, Mo.-based provider of collegiate multimedia rights solutions and services, fromShamrock Capital Advisors. No financial terms were disclosed.
