Mimecast, a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of email archiving, security and continuity solutions for Microsoft Exchange and Office products, has raised $62.15 million in Series C funding. Insight Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backer Dawn Capital. www.mimecast.com

IlluminOss Medical Inc., an East Providence, R.I.-based developer of photodynamic orthopedic implants, has raised $28 million in Series C funding. Airbnb, a San Francisco-based platform for short-term room and apartment rentals, is looking to raise around $100 million in third-round funding at a valuation of between $2 billion and $3 billion, according to TechCrunch.
