Nova Medical Centers, an operator of day surgical centers in India, has raised $54 million in new VC funding. Goldman Sachs led the round, and was joined by return backer New Enterprise Associates.

Intercept Pharmaceuticals Inc., a New York-based developer of therapeutics to treat chronic liver diseases, has raised $30 million in Series C funding. OrbiMed Advisors led the round, and was joined by Intercept’s majority investor, Genextra SpA.

SolFocus, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based developer of solar concentrator photovoltaic systems, has raised $15 million in Series E funding, according to VentureWire. The total round is expected to be larger, with Advanced Equities serving as placement agent. The company previously raised over $175 million in VC funding from firms like Advanced Equities, Apex Venture Partners, New Enterprise Associates, NGEN Partners and Yellowstone Ventures.

Mettl, an India-based online skill assessment platform, has raised $4 million in Series A funding led by IndoUS.
