Genomatica, a San Francisco-based developer of sustainable chemicals, has raised $41.5 million in Series D funding. It also has withdrawn registration for a $100 million IPO, citing “market conditions.” Italian chemical company Versalis led the new financing, and was joined by return backers Alloy Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mohr Davidow Ventures, TPG Biotech, VantagePoint Capital Partners and Waste Management. SCVNGR, a Boston-based developer of the LevelUp mobile payment system, has raised $9 million in additional Series D funding from T-Venture. VentureWire reports that the valuation was $172 million. The round now stands at $21 million, including an earlier close from Continental Investors, Transmedia Capital, Highland Capital Partners, Google Ventures and Balderton Capital. www.levelup.com

FabKids, a children's brand and personalized e-commerce service led by Andy Moss (founder of ShopStyle) and actress Christina Applegate, has raised $2.6 million in Series A funding led by Hillsen Capital.

Silk, a Dutch developer of ways to visualize, store and share content-rich information, has raised $1.6 million in new seed funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, and was joined by return backer Atomico and three undisclosed investors. www.silkapp.com
