Linn Energy LLC (Nasdaq: LINE) has agreed to acquire natural gas assets in Kansas from BP PLC for $1.2 billion. www.linnenergy.com

Buddy Media, a New York–based provider of social media management software, has acquired Brighter Options, a London-based provider of social ad management software company. No financial terms were disclosed. Buddy Media has raised around $90 million in VC funding from firms like Bay Partners, GGV Capital, Institutional Venture Partners and Insight Venture Partners. www.buddymedia.com

Dropbox, a cloud file-sharing company, has acquired Cove, a stealthy cloud collaboration startup. No financial terms were disclosed. Dropbox has raised over $257 million in VC funding from Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, investors Benchmark Capital, Goldman Sachs, Greylock Partners, Institutional Venture Partners, RIT Capital Partners, and Valiant Capital Partners. Cove had raised over $2 million from angels like Ron Conway, Dustin Moskovitz, Ram Shirman and Peter Thiel. www.dropbox.com

Richardson Capital is looking to sell Ocean Nutrition Canada, a maker of health food ingredients, according to Bloomberg. Deutsche Bank is managing the process, which reportedly could generate around $240 million.

UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) has agreed to acquire two senior-focused heal plans with primary operations in Southern and Central Florida: Preferred Care Partners from Ferrer Freeman & Co., and Medica HealthCare Plans from backers like Diamond State Ventures. www.uhc.com
