Noble Biomaterials Inc., a Scranton, Penn.-based developer of bacterial management solutions, has raised $8 million in Series B funding. Northwater Capital’s Intellectual Property Fund led the round, and was joined by return backers TL Ventures and DuPont Capital

Health Fidelity Inc., a Menlo Park, Calif-based developer of a clinical natural language processing platform, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding led by Charter Life

Access Media 3, an Oak Brook, Ill.-based media services provider, has raised $30 million in private funding from ORIX Venture Finance and Petra Capital


Nivio, a Swiss provider of always-on access to desktop applications and data, has raised $21 million in new VC funding from Videocon and AEC Partners.

Altheos Inc., a South San Francisco-based biopharma startup focused on ocular diseases, has raised $12.5 million in additional Series A funding, bringing the round total to $32.5 million. Return backers include Bay City Capital, Novo A/S, Canaan Partners, and additional investors.

Acetylon Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Boston-based developer of HDAC inhibitor drug candidates, has raised $15 million in strategic equity funding from Celgene Inc. (Nasdaq: CELG).

Prolexic Technologies, a Hollywood, Fla.-based provider of distributed denial-of-service protection services, has raised $8 million in Series B funding led by Camden Partners.

Paddle8 Inc., a New York-based online art marketplace, has raised $4 million in Series A funding led by Founder Collective.

TastemakerX, a San Francisco-based social mobile platform for developing a targeted taste graph, has raised $1.8 million in seed funding. Backers include True Ventures, Baseline Ventures, Guggenheim Partners, AOL Ventures and Tekton Ventures.
