Roger McNamee loves the iPad

The founding partner of Elevation Partners has changed his tune about Apple

Remember Roger McNamee? He's the founding partner of the venture capital firm Elevation Partners -- a major investor in the Palm Pre -- who predicted on the two-year anniversary of the original iPhone that nobody who bought it would be using an iPhone a month later.

"Think about it," he said, in a remark I suspect he immediately regretted, "if you bought the first iPhone, you bought it because you wanted the coolest product on the market. Your two-year contract has just expired. Look around. Tell me what they're going to buy."

Well, McNamee has changed his tune -- big time. In a wide-ranging interview on CNBC Thursday he couldn't say enough good things about Apple (aapl) and the iPad or enough bad things about Google (goog) and the Android market, among them that nobody is making any money in it and that he's waiting for the day that "some 16-year-old kid in the Eastern Bloc presses a button and erases everybody's hard drive."

It's quite a performance. You can see it here or in the Vodpod version below the fold.
